Taproom Team Member

Reports to: General Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-exempt 

Hours: 25-35 hours/week

Summary:  The taproom team member is responsible for working in collaboration with other team members each shift to deliver a wonderful customer experience to the guests and promote a positive collaborative team environment. The team member is ultimately responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the taproom and associated spaces, providing a positive guest experience through excellent customer service, completing bartending duties, and other associated tasks. 
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all customers feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and helpful service

  • Educates customers on current menu offerings as well as general beer making techniques, brand history, and overall industry knowledge

  • Cleans and sanitizes all used spaces throughout shift, including, but not limited to, the taproom, event space when used, entry ways, bathrooms and high-touch beer garden areas

  • Continually assures cleanliness by bussing tables of glasses, kitchen smallwares, and trash

  • Checks customer identification before serving beer and follows all state and federal alcohol laws

  • Fills growlers/bullets and pours pints and flights as instructed by the manager

  • Makes good use of down time to assure taproom duties are being completed 

  • Accurately processes orders and payments on the POS system to collect payments for all sales

  • Stocks inventory as needed

  • Follows CDC/county protocol and taproom guidelines for disease prevention (includes wearing a mask when appropriate) 

  • Attends required team meetings

  • Trains new staff with guidance from management 

  • Maintains ATC serving certification and any other required certifications

  • Represents Guggman Haus in a positive light when greeting customers, serving beer, delivering orders to tables, and clearing and sanitizing tables and all common areas in the Haus and beer garden.

  • Potential for leadership responsibilities 

 

NECESSARY QUALITIES:

  • An approachable, friendly, and positive attitude with excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Basic knowledge of and a passion for craft beer and the brewing industry

  • Experience in taproom/brewery 

  • Ability to follow SOPs and sanitation guidelines and practices

  • Willingness to extend general beer knowledge in addition to learning Guggman Haus beer styles, history and company values

  • Eagerness to grow with our team

  • Ability to multitask between taking orders, running drinks, and bussing tables in an often fast-paced environment

  • Ability to effectively communicate with shift manager, other team members and customers

  • Basic problem solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate), 1+ years of experience in the craft brewing industry or service industry preferred. Basic knowledge of and a passion for craft beer and the brewing industry

  • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to follow SOPs and sanitation guidelines and practices

  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Computer Skills - Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.  

  • Schedule: Able to work flexible evening/weekend schedule with reliable transportation

  • Problem Solving and Communication: Ability to multitask between taking orders, running drinks, and bussing tables in an often fast-paced environment and ability to effectively communicate with shift manager, other team members and customers

  •  At least 21 years of age

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the taproom team member must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time, sometimes in tight spaces. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and taproom floor. They must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this Job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually high. The individual must be able to work in an environment with frequent temperature changes.
